I love summer time! Although it goes by way too fast, and I always want more vacation time, I still love summer. I believe I am loving it even more now that Dayton is getting older and we are able to do more things. For instance, the day school let out, we headed to Destin, Fl. We stayed a week and had the best time EVER! We were not ready to come home and Dayton was ready to move and live there. Everyday was a fun filled day of adventure, whether it was at the beach, putt-putt golf, dolphin cruising, snorkeling, or even on a pirate ship. We took advantage of all that Destin had to offer and enjoyed every day spent.
Heading home, I knew it was going to be hard to keep up with that kind of fun. Luckily for us we have wonderful family and friends. Dayton learned how to swim in Destin, so my sister has been wonderful about letting us come over and swim in her pool almost whenever we want. Since learning to swim, Dayton has been a fish. If he isn’t in water, he isn’t happy. I enjoy seeing him become adventurous with his swimming. If you could only see the difference from last year. He was sooooo scared of water and now he is diving in the deep end and swimming across the pool from shallow to deep racing with me! Such a dramatic, but a wonderful change!
Also, one of my dearest friends, Casey, her family has property at an old gravel pit, Big Lake, and we have been there to swim also. Casey did an awesome job of rounding up some high school girl-friends and we gathered for the day. We were able to be kid free and for most husband free as well and have girl time. Most of us haven’t seen each other in a few years so it was nice to have face time. I hope that we continue to get together because only at high school reunions stinks!
Finally at the local state park they have a splash area and a beach area. Since it only cost $2 to get in, we pack a lunch and snacks and head out that way also. He had so much fun and next time I know to wear my swim suit and join in on the fun. I thought I could sit back and get some writing in but watching him was so much fun I did not write one word!
So for the past two weeks Dayton and I have stayed in the sun with tons of fun. Honestly I wouldn’t have it any other way! I don’t have to hear the dreaded words of “I’m Bored!”. Those words are like fingernails down a chalkboard! So it has become my summer mission to make sure Dayton and I stay active and NOT bored!
